It was cloudly and even starting to rain, but then right around the local maximum (~80%) it cleared up. I used a big pair of binoculars to project the image onto a piece of foam board, though because the board was facing the Sun I had to hold up another piece in order to see the projected image in shadow.

There were lots of little crescents visible in the shadows from the trees, and even several showing through small gaps in my tripod.

With a large and fairly dim projection like this I could also see some sunspots, which were not really visible when looking directly at the Sun through eclipse-viewing glasses:
