Mantis Nymph

Several weeks ago I noticed an ootheca in the back yard, and there might be more in the bushes that I haven’t seen.

It’s been warm enough long enough that it’s probably about time for them to hatch. Sure enough this morning I was out tending to the dahlias and spotted a nymph on one of the plants. It was in an awkward spot to get a tripod close to it, but I did mange to get a few photos:
